More than 3.8 million people in America applied for unemployment between the period of 4/25/2020 and 4/30/2020 according to the Department of Labor. This brings the total of unemployed Americans to a whopping 30.5 million. Although these numbers are historically high, they have been falling for a month now. The week prior, the claims were 600,000 claims higher than the week of 4/25.

The CDC recently announced guidelines in a three-phased approach to open America again. 

Phase 1 will include:

• Vulnerable individuals will continue to stay sheltered
• All individuals should remail social distancing in public places 
• Keep groups under 10 people
• Working from home is encouraged but not mandatory
• If working in a workplace building social distancing should be strongly enforced
• Business' for children and the elderly shall remain closed
• Large venues and gyms can up with strict social distancing rules
• Bars will remain closes

Phase 2 will include:

• Vulnerable individuals will continue to stay sheltered
• All healthy individuals should try to stay away from groups of 50 or more
• Keep common areas in the workplace closed so that personnel don't clutter
• School's and other child activities will reopen
• Visits to senior care facilities will continue to be prohibited
• Bars will open with certain social distancing guidelines

Phase 3 will include:

• Vulnerable individuals may engage in public interactions but with social distancing protocol
• Low-risk individuals should limit time in crowded places
• Resume workplace activities to full extent 
• Senior care facilities may take visitors

The Myrtle Beach City Council passed Executive Order #8 which will begin a slow reopening of the city of Myrtle Beach between the period of May 1, 2020-May 15, 2020.

During this time period, all existing reservations will be honored in the area but no new ones can be accepted. However, there is nothing in the order that stops reservations being made after May 16, 2020.

Facts about COVID-19 according to the DHEC:

• DO NOT have direct contact with others
• If you are diagnosed with COVID-19 avoid contact with all of those who do not live in your home
• Everyone is at risk of catching the virus
• It is spread by coughing/sneezing in the air, close person to person contact and touching objects with the virus on the surface then touching your face, eyes, or mouth
• Symptoms include a cough, fever, and shortness of breath. These symptoms can range from mild to severe.
• Precautions include: not touching your face, washing your hands regularly and avoiding sick people
• Isolation, where people are separated from all others, is for the sick to stay away from the healthy. Quarantine is for people who may have been exposed and confine themselves to their homes or another location to see if they soon become sick.

Horry County has announced that its ban on short-term rentals will expire on April 30th. However, residents of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and other "hotspot" areas will be exempt from this as a precaution to keep the virus out of Horry County as much as possible.

Hotels will be able to start taking reservations as soon as May 1st, 2020.

The 15-day state of emergency that was put in place on April 12, 2020, expired yesterday, April 27, 2020. By law, a state of emergency can be put in place for a 15-day maximum.

Due to the circumstances of the virus with the DHEC identifying more than 5,490 cases in the State of South Carolina along with 174 deaths due to the virus, Governor McMaster declared his newest Executive Order 2020-29 which declares a state of emergency that includes:

• Closures of school's for the remainder of the school year
• Elections will be postponed or rescheduled
• Protection for first responders
• Transportation waivers
• Authorization for enforcement to do anything deemed necessary to keep peace and good order during this time

• April 20th, 2020:restrictions on some business', such as certain retail stores has been lifted
• April 20th, 2020:public beach access' and waterways open if approved by local jurisdictions
